On Internment, the floating island in the clouds where 16-year-old Morgan Stockhour lives, getting too close to the edge can lead to madness. Even though Morgan's older brother, Lex, was a Jumper, Morgan vows never to end up like him. She tries her best not to mind that her life is orderly and boring, and if she ever wonders about the ground, and why it is forbidden, she takes solace in best friend Pen and her betrothed, Basil.

Then a murder, the first in a generation, rocks the city. With whispers swirling and fear on the wind, Morgan can no longer stop herself from investigating, especially when she meets Judas. He is the boy being blamed for the murder — betrothed to the victim — but Morgan is convinced of his innocence. Secrets lay at the heart of Internment, but nothing can prepare Morgan for what she will find — or who she will lose.
So I've been sitting here for the past two hours or so, just thinking about reading Perfect Ruin. I've been reading it for a week and am about 120 pages in and I'm just not feeling it. I don't generally DNF books, but this is going to be one. Maybe I'll come back to it eventually.

I'm finding that Perfect Ruin isn't moving very quickly, and there's just not enough to hold my attention. The idea is fascinating and the tone of the book is very foreboding and effective, but I'm not engaged. I expected to be enthralled by the world and curious about what's going on in Internment, but I'm not. It's really not that there's anything wrong with the book, but I'm bored. Simple as that.

I'd love to be as enthralled with this book as everyone else seems to be, but... I'm just not. I've tried and it's not happening. I'd rather not force myself and move on to something else, especially since I have so little time to read for fun right now. Oh well.
